Vṛtrāsura Rebukes Indra; Heroic Combat and the Asura’s Pure Devotional Prayers
न सन्नवाहाय विषण्णचेतसे प्रायुङ्क्त भूय: स गदां महात्मा । इन्द्रोऽमृतस्यन्दिकराभिमर्श वीतव्यथक्षतवाहोऽवतस्थे ॥ १२ ॥
na sanna-vāhāya viṣaṇṇa-cetase prāyuṅkta bhūyaḥ sa gadāṁ mahātmā indro ’mṛta-syandi-karābhimarśa- vīta-vyatha-kṣata-vāho ’vatasthe
இந்திரனின் வாகனம் சோர்வுற்று காயமடைந்திருப்பதையும், இந்திரன் கவலையுடன் இருப்பதையும் கண்ட மகாத்மாவான விருத்திராசுரன், தர்மத்தைக் கடைப்பிடித்து மீண்டும் தாக்கவில்லை. இந்த வாய்ப்பைப் பயன்படுத்தி, இந்திரன் தனது அமுதக் கரத்தால் யானையைத் தொட்டு, அதன் வலியையும் காயங்களையும் குணப்படுத்தினான். பின்னர் இருவரும் அங்கே நின்றனர்.
