बिभृयाद् यद्यसौ वास: कौपीनाच्छादनं परम् । त्यक्तं न लिङ्गाद् दण्डादेरन्यत् किञ्चिदनापदि ॥ २ ॥
bibhṛyād yady asau vāsaḥ kaupīnācchādanaṁ param tyaktaṁ na liṅgād daṇḍāder anyat kiñcid anāpadi
சந்நியாசி இயன்றவரை உடை-மூடுதலையும் தவிர்க்க வேண்டும்; அணிய வேண்டுமெனில் கௌபீனம் மட்டுமே. அவசியமில்லையெனில் தண்டம் முதலான சந்நியாசச் சின்னங்களையும் ஏற்க வேண்டாம்; தண்டமும் கமண்டலுவும் தவிர வேறு எதையும் எடுத்துச் செல்ல வேண்டாம்।
