Sukta 2
उदन्वती द्यौरवमा पीलुमतीति मध्यमा। तृतीया ह प्रद्यौरिति यस्यां पितर आसते
udánvatī dyáur avamā́ pī́lumatī́ íti madhyamā́ | tṛtī́yā ha pradyáur íti yásyāṃ pitára āsate ||
‘Watery’ is the lowest heaven; ‘Pīlumatī,’ so they call the middle; the third, verily, is ‘Pradyauḥ’—that wherein the Fathers sit established.
‘உதன்வதீ’ (நீர்மிகு) என்பது கீழ்மையான விண்ணுலகம்; ‘பீலுமதீ’ என்று அவர்கள் நடுவானதை அழைப்பர். மூன்றாவது, நிச்சயமாக, ‘ப்ரத்யௌḥ’—அதில் பித்ரர்கள் அமர்ந்து நிலைபெற்றுள்ளனர்.
