Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva Purana teachings to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Frames Śiva-yajana as granting both bhoga and mokṣa—typical Purāṇic articulation of Śiva as bestower of worldly welfare and final release; Kārttika is highlighted as a high-merit month for worship.
Role: liberating
It teaches that Śiva-worship is uniquely complete: it can grant rightful worldly fulfillment (bhoga) while also leading the devotee toward liberation (mokṣa), showing Śiva as both the giver of grace in life and the liberator beyond it.
In the Vidyeśvara/Viśveśvara context, Śiva is approached through worship (yajana), classically including Liṅga-pūjā as Saguna devotion; through that accessible form, the devotee receives fruits culminating in mokṣa by Śiva’s grace.
It implies performing Śiva-pūjā especially in Kārttika—daily offerings (water, bilva, lamps), japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and devotional observances—since worship done in this period is said to become particularly fruitful.
