सूत उवाच—इति तस्य प्रजापतेर्ब्रह्मणो वचः श्रुत्वा, प्रसन्नमानसो नारदस्तं प्रत्युवाच।
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: Models the proper inner disposition for receiving dharma/Śiva-tattva: prasanna-manas (clarified mind) after hearing a guru/elder’s instruction.
It highlights the Shaiva principle that true instruction bears fruit when the listener’s mind becomes prasanna (clear and receptive); serenity is a prerequisite for receiving higher teachings that ultimately lead the soul (paśu) toward Pati, Lord Shiva.
Though the verse is transitional, it frames the guru–disciple style dialogue that typically culminates in concrete Shaiva practices—often including saguna upāsanā such as Linga worship—received with a calm, faithful mind.
Cultivate prasanna-manas through simple preparatory sādhanā: quiet japa of Shiva’s name (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya), steady breath, and a sattvic, prayerful attitude before hearing or reciting Shiva Purana teachings.
