इति श्रीशिवमहापुराणे द्वितीयायां रुद्रसंहितायां द्वितीये सतीखण्डे ‘विष्णुवीरभद्रसंवादः’ नाम षट्त्रिंशोऽध्यायः समाप्तः।
Sūta Gosvāmin (traditional Purāṇic colophon narration to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Mantra: iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe dvitīyāyāṃ rudrasaṃhitāyāṃ dvitīye satīkhaṃḍe viṣṇuvīrabhadrasamvādo nāma ṣaṭtriṃśo'dhyāyaḥ
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it reminds the listener that Purāṇic teaching is transmitted in an ordered lineage and should be received with śraddhā (reverent attention), culminating in devotion to Pati—Lord Śiva.
Though it is not a direct instruction on Liṅga worship, it situates the reader within the Satī Khaṇḍa where Śiva’s manifest (saguṇa) actions and divine attendants (like Vīrabhadra) are celebrated—supporting bhakti-based contemplation of Śiva’s forms and deeds.
A practical takeaway is pāṭha-vidhi: conclude a reading with a brief salutation to Śiva (e.g., mentally repeating the Pañcākṣarī “oṃ namaḥ śivāya”) and dedicating the merit of the recitation to liberation and devotion.
