कामशापानुग्रहः (Kāmaśāpānugraha) — “The Curse and Grace Concerning Kāma”
इत्थं पापगतिं वीक्ष्य भ्रातॄणां च पितुस्तथा । धर्मस्सस्मार शंभुं वै तदा धर्मावनं प्रभुम्
itthaṃ pāpagatiṃ vīkṣya bhrātṝṇāṃ ca pitustathā | dharmassasmāra śaṃbhuṃ vai tadā dharmāvanaṃ prabhum
इत्येवं भ्रातॄणां पितुश्च पापगतिं निरीक्ष्य धर्मोऽथ शम्भुं स्मसार वै—धर्मावनं प्रभुं शरण्यं महेश्वरम्।

The verse highlights śaraṇāgati (taking refuge): when confronted with the consequences of pāpa (sin), Dharma turns to Śiva as dharmāvana—the divine Lord who restores order and grants upliftment through grace.
Remembering “Śambhu” points to Saguna upāsanā—devotion to Shiva with attributes as the compassionate protector. In practice, this devotion is commonly anchored in Liṅga worship, where the devotee seeks purification and re-establishment in dharma.
Smaraṇa and japa: mentally remembering Shiva and repeating the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as a refuge-practice, supported by simple Shiva-pūjā such as offering water to the Liṅga with a dharmic intention.
