It highlights śuddhi (inner purity) and niścaya (steadfast resolve): Anasūyā’s refusal and the sage’s unwavering tapas show that spiritual power arises from self-restraint and dharma, which in Shaiva understanding becomes fit ground for Shiva’s grace to manifest in the ensuing event.
Though the Linga is not named here, the Purana’s narrative method prepares the listener: when devotees uphold purity and tapas, Saguna Shiva’s compassionate intervention is made narratively imminent—often culminating in a sacred occurrence that supports devotion, pilgrimage, or a holy manifestation.
The implied practice is disciplined tapas paired with ethical restraint—regular japa (such as “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), purity of intention, and firm refusal of adharmic gain—creating the inner readiness praised throughout Shaiva practice.
