प्रणवमहिमा — The Greatness of the Praṇava (Om) as Śiva
स्थानान्येतानि देवेशि शान्त्यतीतं परात्परम् । अधिकारी भवेद्यस्य वैराग्यं जायते दृढम्
sthānānyetāni deveśi śāntyatītaṃ parātparam | adhikārī bhavedyasya vairāgyaṃ jāyate dṛḍham
देवेशि, एतानि स्थानानि शान्त्यतीतानि परात्पराणि च। यस्य दृढं वैराग्यं जायते स एवाधिकारी भवति॥
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It defines adhikāra (spiritual eligibility): the highest realization of Shiva—beyond even serene mental peace—dawns for the aspirant in whom unwavering vairāgya (dispassion toward worldly enjoyments and egoic identity) has matured.
Linga/Saguna worship purifies the mind and loosens attachment; this verse states the inner criterion that completes that path—firm detachment—so devotion can mature from form-based reverence into recognition of Shiva as the parātpara reality.
Practice steady japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with disciplined vairāgya—supported by simple Shaiva observances like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and inward meditation—so the mind becomes fit for transcendent knowledge.
