Ravana’s Shakti Javelin and Lakshmana’s Wounding
मयेनविहितंरौद्रमन्यदस्त्रंमहाद्युतिः ।उत्सृष्टुंरावणोभीमंराघवायप्रचक्रमे ।।।।
mayena vihitaṃ raudram anyad astraṃ mahādyutiḥ | utsraṣṭuṃ rāvaṇo bhīmaṃ rāghavāya pracakrame ||
मयेन विहितं रौद्रम् अन्यदस्त्रं महाद्युतिः । भीमो रावणो राघवाय उत्स्रष्टुं प्रचक्रमे ॥
Even though pierced by Ravana with ten arrows, Rama, endowed with high energy, was not shaken.
The verse frames adharma as reliance on terrifying, occult power for domination; Dharma is implied by contrast—true strength should serve righteousness rather than intimidation.
In the heat of battle, Rāvaṇa escalates the conflict by readying a new, fearsome divine/occult missile against Rāma.
By implication, Rāma’s steadiness is foregrounded in the surrounding sequence: even when opponents escalate with dreadful weapons, the righteous hero remains composed and resolute.
