Hanuman’s Sweet Address to Sita and Sita’s Recognition
रक्षिता स्वस्य धर्मस्य स्वजनस्य च रक्षिता।रक्षिता जीवलोकस्य धर्मस्य च परन्तपः।।।।
rakṣitā svasya dharmasya svajanasya ca rakṣitā | rakṣitā jīvalokasya dharmasya ca parantapaḥ ||
स परन्तपः स्वधर्मस्य स्वजनस्य च रक्षिता। जीवलोकस्य धर्मस्य च रक्षिता बभूव॥
"The scourage of enemies, he is a protector of righteousness and of his kins and all living creatures. He is an embodiment of righteousness.
Dharma is protective and life-sustaining: the ideal hero uses strength to guard righteousness and the vulnerable, extending care even to the wider world of beings.
Sītā praises Rāma’s defining role as dharma’s guardian, contrasting it with the violent disorder represented by Rāvaṇa’s regime.
Protective courage: martial power (parantapa) subordinated to safeguarding dharma and dependents.
