षोडशः सर्गः (Sarga 16): Hanumān’s Recognition of Sītā and Renewed Lament
तां दृष्ट्वा नवहेमाभां लोककान्तामिव श्रियम्।जगाम मनसा रामं वचनं चेदमब्रवीत्।।5.16.6।।
tāṃ dṛṣṭvā navahēmābhāṃ lokakāntām iva śriyam |
jagāma manasā rāmaṃ vacanaṃ cedam abravīt ||5.16.6||
तां नवहेमप्रभां लोककान्तामिव श्रियम् दृष्ट्वा हनूमान् मनसा रामं जगाम, इदं वचनं च अब्रवीत्॥
On seeing her glowing like fresh gold resembling goddess Lakshmi who is dear to theentire world, and thinking of Rama, Hanuman said:
Dharma here is expressed as steadfast loyalty and right intention: Hanumān immediately aligns his mind with Rāma’s righteous mission and speaks with reverence, treating Sītā as worthy of the highest honor.
In Laṅkā, Hanumān finally beholds Sītā; recognizing her radiance and dignity, he recollects Rāma and begins his address.
Devotion joined with discernment: Hanumān’s controlled, purposeful response—thinking first of Rāma, then speaking—shows disciplined service and moral clarity.
