utthāya tu yathākālaṃ rāghavaḥ saha sītayā | upaspṛśya suśītena jalena utpala-gandhinā ||
अथ प्रातःकाले यथाविधि राघवः सीतासहितः समुत्थाय। शिशिरेणोत्पलगन्धिना जलेन उपस्पृश्य शौचमकरोत्॥
Both Rama and Lakshmana tied their auspicious quivers, took the two twanging bows and departed from the hermitage.
Dharma here is disciplined daily conduct (āhnika) and śauca—beginning the day at the proper time with purification rites, reflecting inner order through outer practice.
In Daṇḍakāraṇya, Rāma and Sītā begin the day with morning observances before proceeding with their duties among the forest ascetics.
Maryādā (propriety) and self-discipline: Rāma’s adherence to timely, traditional practice even while living in exile.
