'On account of living in this dense forest in Janasthana I have earned enmity with the demons. Will Lakshmana and Sita be safe without my protection? I see many terrible portents.'
Dharma recognizes consequences of righteous conflict: even just actions (opposing rākṣasas) can create retaliation risks, increasing the protector’s obligation to safeguard the innocent.
Rāma, separated from Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa, fears for them, recalling his feud with rākṣasas in Janasthāna and noticing ominous signs.
Responsibility and self-awareness—Rāma links present danger to the broader moral and strategic context of his past actions.
