Śākadvīpa

FAQs

Śākadvīpa is one of the Purāṇic “dvīpas” (cosmic continents/island-realms) described in traditional cosmology; this verse introduces a request to expand its description beyond a summary.

Purāṇic teaching often proceeds from outline to elaboration; the sages affirm the accuracy of the summary and request a fuller, more precise exposition “tattvataḥ” (in truth).

The verse models disciplined inquiry and respectful learning: acknowledging the teacher’s correct summary and asking for deeper clarification grounded in dharma and truth.
