Unspecified (narrative exposition within Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa cosmology)

Concept: Vāyu is characterized by sparśa (touch) and is ‘powerful’; ākāśa, defined by śabda, pervades/envelops it—showing layered pervasion among elements and their qualities.

Application: Recognize ‘vāyu-like’ restlessness in oneself (prāṇa, impulses). Use breath regulation and mantra-japa to let the ‘space’ of awareness (ākāśa-like steadiness) pervade and calm movement.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Type: celestial_realm

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A mighty, translucent Vāyu rises as spiraling currents, muscular yet invisible, indicated by flowing ribbons of pale green and pearl-white. Around and within it, ākāśa remains as a vast indigo field, its sound-waves faintly etched, showing how space pervades wind while wind carries the tactile pulse of creation.","primary_figures":["Vāyu-tattva (personified as a swift, youthful force)","Ākāśa-tattva (as an all-encompassing dome)"],"setting":"Abstract cosmic expanse with subtle yantra lines and a faint lotus grid beneath the currents.","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["pearl white","pale green","indigo","soft gold","smoke gray"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Vāyu as a dynamic deity-like figure with flowing scarves and ornate anklets, emerging within an indigo ākāśa mandala; gold leaf highlights tracing wind-currents and sound-rings; rich red-green borders, jewel-toned accents emphasizing ‘power’ (balavān) and pervasion.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: airy, lyrical wind ribbons sweeping across a calm indigo sky; delicate stippling for sound-waves; minimalistic yet refined facial features if personified; cool palette with gentle gold wash suggesting dawn over the first movement of creation.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: stylized Vāyu with bold outlines, exaggerated flowing hair and scarves; background ākāśa as patterned indigo field with concentric motifs; natural pigments, temple-wall symmetry, decorative lotus medallions.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: swirling wind motifs arranged like floral arabesques over a deep blue ground; concentric sound rings as decorative borders; tiny lotuses and peacocks integrated into the pattern; gold detailing to show pervasion and sacred order."}

FAQs

It summarizes the classical bhūta-theory: each element is identified by a primary sense-quality (guṇa). Vāyu is defined by touch (sparśa), while Ākāśa is defined by sound (śabda), and the verse describes their relation in terms of pervasion/envelopment.

Ākāśa is said to possess sound as its defining quality, and the verse states that it ‘enveloped’ with touch—indicating the emergence or inclusion of the touch-quality in the next principle (Vāyu) while maintaining the hierarchy of elemental properties.

Not directly. Its focus is cosmological and philosophical—explaining elemental qualities (guṇas) in creation—rather than devotional practice or moral instruction.
