“Kaṃsa’s foe” is a standard epithet for Kṛṣṇa, who ultimately destroys Kaṃsa and ends his tyranny.
It highlights compassion and tenderness within family life—Kṛṣṇa responds to his father’s distress with repeated empathy and reassurance.
It situates the scene in a playful, domestic setting and contrasts ordinary pastime with deep feeling, showing divinity expressed through intimate, human-like affection.
