Sūta (narrating the tīrtha-māhātmya dialogue of Uttara-Bhāga)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It equates the spiritual merit (phala) of a praised practice with two accessible acts in Kāśī: Lalitā-devī darśana in Vārāṇasī and regular monthly Caturthī fasting, highlighting tīrtha-darśana and vrata as direct means to accrue puṇya.
Bhakti is expressed here through darśana (reverent visitation/vision of the deity) and disciplined observance (upavāsa on Caturthī). The verse frames devotion as embodied practice—showing up at the sacred place and keeping a recurring vow.
It implicitly uses calendrical/ritual timing based on tithi (Caturthī), which relates to Jyotiṣa (Vedāṅga astrology) for determining lunar days and scheduling vrata observances.
