The verse directly names the paradox of samsāric bondage: the mind remains attached even to sources of harm. Recognizing this irrational clinging is the first step toward seeking a transcendent cure.
Didactic narrative framing the Devi Mahatmyam’s core teaching on delusion and refuge in the Goddess; not a pañcalakṣaṇa segment.
‘Sneha binding the mind’ is a technical depiction of bandha (bondage). The coming revelation will identify the deeper power behind such binding as the Goddess’s māyā/mahāmoha—whose grace also grants liberation.
