evaṁ vivasvatā tāta chadmanenottama-tejasā | nirdagdhāḥ śātravāḥ sarve vasatā bhuvi sarvaśaḥ ||

Power guided by dharma need not always be displayed openly; at times, restraint and concealment (chadman) can be a righteous means to neutralize hostility and protect order, as illustrated through the Sun-god’s hidden presence that destroys enemies.
Vaiśaṃpāyana gives an illustrative comparison: Vivasvān (the Sun) is said to have lived on earth in a concealed form and, through his supreme radiance, burned up all hostile forces everywhere—an example of hidden, effective divine action.
