मेघगम्भीरनादेन तर्जयन्तं महास्वनम्‌ | वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--राजन्‌! तत्पश्चात्‌ उस समय इस प्रकार बोलनेवाले उस यक्षकी वह अमंगलमयी और कठोर वाणी सुनकर भरतश्रेष्ठ राजा युधिष्ठिर उसके पास जाकर खड़े हो गये। उन्होंने देखा

meghagambhīranādena tarjayantaṃ mahāsvanam | yakṣa uvāca: ime te bhrātaro rājan vāryamāṇā mayā sakṛt |

मेघगम्भीरनादेन तर्जयन्तं महास्वनम् । ददर्श यक्षं विपुलं वृक्षाग्रे समुपाश्रितम् ॥ इमे ते भ्रातरो राजन् वार्यमाणा मयासकृत् । बलात् तोयं जिहीर्षन्तस्ततो वै मृदिता मया ॥ न पेयमुदकं राजन् प्राणानिह परीप्सता । पार्थ मा साहसं कार्षीर्मम पूर्वपरिग्रहः ॥ प्रश्नानुक्त्वा तु कौन्तेय ततः पिब हरस्व च ॥
