Rāma’s victory, Sītā’s vindication, and return to Ayodhyā as told by Mārkaṇḍeya
etān me bhagavan sarvaṃ samyag ākhyātum arhasi | śrotum icchāmi caritaṃ rāmasyākliṣṭakarmaṇaḥ ||
The verse models dhārmic learning: a ruler seeks a complete and accurate account of an ideal figure’s conduct, implying that ethical clarity is gained by attentive listening to exemplary lives and by valuing truthful, well-ordered narration.
Yudhiṣṭhira respectfully addresses a revered narrator (a sage) and requests a full, correct telling of Rāma’s life and deeds, setting up a didactic episode where Rāma’s character is presented as a guide for right action.
