Drupada’s Alarm and Inquiry Regarding Śikhaṇḍinī (द्रुपदस्य भय-विमर्शः)
ततः प्रसादयामासुर्यक्षा वैश्रवणं किल । स्थूणस्यार्थ कुरुष्वान्तं शापस्येति पुन: पुन:,तब यक्षोंने अनुनय-विनय करके स्थूणाकर्णके लिये कुबेरको प्रसन्न किया और बारंबार आग्रहपूर्वक कहा--“भगवन्! इस शापका अन्त कर दीजिये'
tataḥ prasādayāmāsur yakṣā vaiśravaṇaṃ kila | sthūṇasyārthaṃ kuruṣvāntaṃ śāpasya iti punaḥ punaḥ ||
ततः प्रसादयामासुर्यक्षा वैश्रवणं किल । स्थूणस्यार्थे कुरुष्वान्तं शापस्येति पुनः पुनः ॥
भीष्म उवाच
Even when a curse or punishment is deserved or has taken effect, dharmic conduct allows room for compassion and remediation: respectful petition and the goodwill of others can help soften consequences and restore balance without denying moral order.
The Yakṣas approach their lord Vaiśravaṇa (Kubera) and repeatedly entreat him to end a curse, doing so specifically on behalf of Sthūṇākarṇa.
