Bhīṣma’s Account of the Strategic Engagement with Rāma Jāmadagnya

“राजन्‌! परशुरामकी कभी मृत्यु नहीं हो सकती; अतः इस प्राप्त हुए प्रस्वाप नामक अस्त्रका प्रयोग करो” ।। इत्युक्त्वान्तर्हिता राजन्‌ सर्व एव द्विजोत्तमा: । अष्टौ सदृशरूपास्ते सर्वे भासुरमूर्तय:,राजन्‌! ऐसा कहकर वे वसुस्वरूप सभी श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मण अदृश्य हो गये। वे आठों समान रूपवाले थे। उन सबके शरीर तेजोमय प्रतीत होते थे

rājan! paraśurāmasya kadācid api mṛtyur na bhavitum arhati; ataḥ prāptasya prasvāpa-nāmna astrasya prayogaṃ kuru. ity uktvāntarhitā rājan sarva eva dvijottamāḥ | aṣṭau sadṛśa-rūpās te sarve bhāsura-mūrtayaḥ ||

भीष्म उवाच—राजन्! परशुरामस्य कदाचिदपि मृत्युर्न भवति; अतः प्राप्तं प्रस्वापनामास्त्रं प्रयुङ्क्ष्व। इत्युक्त्वा राजन् सर्वे ते द्विजोत्तमा वसुरूपा अन्तर्हिताः। अष्टौ ते सदृशरूपाः सर्वे भासुरमूर्तयः॥
