Kośa, Bala, and Maryādā: Treasury, Capacity, and Enforceable Limits (कोश-बल-मर्यादा)
अविज्ञानादयोगो हि पुरुषस्पोपजायते । विज्ञानादपि योगश्व योगो भूतिकर: पर:,ज्ञान न होनेसे मनुष्यको संकटकालमें उससे बचनेके लिये कोई योग्य उपाय नहीं सूझता; परंतु ज्ञानसे वह उपाय ज्ञात हो जाता है। उचित उपाय ही ऐश्वर्यकी वृद्धि करनेका श्रेष्ठ साधन है
avijñānād ayogo hi puruṣasyopajāyate | vijñānād api yogaś ca yogo bhūtikaraḥ paraḥ ||
अविज्ञानादयोगो हि पुरुषस्योपजायते । विज्ञानादपि योगश्च योगो भूतिकरः परः ॥
भीष्म उवाच
Ignorance produces 'ayoga'—the failure to find or apply the right course of action—whereas knowledge reveals the proper means; such rightly applied means is the supreme cause of prosperity and well-being.
In Shanti Parva, Bhishma instructs Yudhishthira on dharma and practical governance. Here he emphasizes that clear understanding is what enables effective action in times of crisis, and that correct action grounded in knowledge leads to flourishing.
