Arjuna’s evacuation of Dvārakā, Vasudeva’s rites, and the caravan’s crisis
अस्त्राणि मे प्रणष्टानि विविधानि महामुने
astrāṇi me praṇaṣṭāni vividhāni mahāmune
अर्जुन उवाच— अस्त्राणि मे प्रणष्टानि विविधानि महामुने॥ महामुने, मम नानाविधानि अस्त्राणि प्रणष्टानि; यत् पूर्वं पराक्रमस्य आधार आसीत्, तत् इदानीं निष्फलं जातम्—कालदैववशात् लौकिकबलस्य क्षणभङ्गुरता प्रकाशते॥
अर्जुन उवाच
Even the greatest worldly capacities—skill, arms, and fame—are unstable; dharma requires humility and clarity when power fails, recognizing the larger movement of time and consequence after violence.
Arjuna addresses a revered sage and reports that his diverse weapons are no longer available—signaling a loss of the martial resources that once defined him and marking the waning of the heroic age in the Mausala Parva’s aftermath.
