Educational Q&A

The verse links radiance and honor to moral worth: a sacred or righteous realm is described as a refuge for the meritorious, and the presence of a virtuous person is portrayed as increasing the splendor of that realm—suggesting that ethical character ‘illumines’ society and even the cosmic order.

Sanjaya is describing a revered city called Saṁyamanī (associated with Yama), praising its inherent beauty and declaring that it will appear even more brilliant due to the arrival/presence of the person being addressed.
