Educational Q&A

The verse highlights battlefield fearlessness and resolve: the Pāṇḍavas set aside the fear of death and act according to the warrior’s duty (kṣatriya-dharma). Ethically, it frames courage not as recklessness but as steadfastness in one’s appointed role amid mortal danger.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Pāṇḍavas surge against the Kaurava forces. Combat aligns by comparable units: horsemen engage horsemen, and chariot-warriors engage chariot-warriors, indicating an intense, organized clash between matched fighters.
