Śiva’s Battlefield Manifestation and Vyāsa’s Śatarudrīya Exposition (शिवप्रादुर्भावः शतरुद्रीयव्याख्यानम्)
dhṛṣṭadyumnaṃ tato droṇo viddhvā saptabhir āśugaiḥ
The verse underscores the uncompromising momentum of battlefield duty (kṣatriya-dharma): a commander like Droṇa acts decisively against a principal opponent, illustrating how skill and resolve are deployed in war without hesitation, even when the moral weight of violence remains implicit.
Sañjaya reports that Droṇa shoots Dhṛṣṭadyumna with seven swift arrows, marking an intense exchange between leading warriors as the battle escalates under Droṇa’s command.
