Bhīmasena and Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s Speeches on Kṣātra-Dharma
sañjaya uvāca | śaktiṃ cikṣepa samare sarvapāraśavīṃ śubhām | mṛtyor iva svasāraṃ hi dīptāṃ vahni-miśikhām iva ||

The verse underscores the grim moral atmosphere of war: even valor and skill culminate in instruments that resemble Death itself, reminding the listener that battle magnifies the consequences of anger, rivalry, and destiny.
As weapons are repeatedly cut down in the fight, Bhimasena responds by casting a splendid all-iron spear (śakti) that blazes like fire, described as akin to Death’s sister—signaling a lethal escalation in the duel.
