Bhīmasena and Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s Speeches on Kṣātra-Dharma
priyārthaṁ tava putrāṇāṁ rākṣasaṁ samavākirat |

The verse highlights how the urge to please one’s own side (priyārtha) can eclipse restraint, leading to sweeping, indiscriminate force. It invites reflection on the ethical cost of partiality and patron-pleasing in war.
Sañjaya reports that Droṇa’s son (Aśvatthāmā), acting to gratify Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons, unleashed such a dense rain of arrows that the directions seemed covered; in that barrage, the rākṣasa combatant was also enveloped.
