The verse highlights how extraordinary skill and courage in one’s appointed duty (here, the warrior’s role in battle) can inspire collective recognition. Ethically, it reflects the epic’s recurring theme that prowess, when exercised decisively in a dharmic role, becomes a force that shapes the morale and judgment of all who witness it.
Sañjaya reports that the assembled elite fighters praise Sātyaki’s astonishing feat. In the thick of combat, Sātyaki’s arrows strike enemies who enter their effective range, and the poet compares the resulting devastation to fire consuming what lies in its path.
