Educational Q&A

This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement. Its function is ethical-literary: it preserves textual integrity and lineage by clearly marking the end of a chapter and situating it within the larger structure (Parva and sub-parva), reminding readers that events are part of an ordered narrative where actions and consequences are tracked.

The verse does not advance the plot directly; it formally concludes the chapter. It states that, within Droṇa Parva and the Jayadratha-slaying section, the episode concerning the killing of Sudarśana has been completed, and this is counted as the 118th chapter.
