यत्तो याहि रणे सूत शृणु चेदं॑ वच: परम् | 'सूत! द्रोणाचार्य मुझे रोकनेके लिये सब प्रकारसे प्रयत्न करेंगे, अतः तुम रफणक्षेत्रमें सावधान होकर चलो और मेरी यह दूसरी बात भी सुन लो
yatto yāhi raṇe sūta śṛṇu cedaṁ vacaḥ param |
सञ्जय उवाच—यत्तो याहि रणे सूत शृणु चेदं वचः परम्। द्रोणाचार्यो हि मां रोद्धुं सर्वोपायैः प्रयास्यति; तस्मात् रणक्षेत्रे सावधानः सञ्चर, मम चेदं द्वितीयं वचनं शृणु॥
संजय उवाच
In the chaos of war, duty requires disciplined attention: the leader anticipates resistance, communicates clearly, and demands vigilance from those responsible for execution (here, the charioteer).
Sañjaya reports a warrior’s instruction to his charioteer to drive carefully in battle, anticipating that Droṇācārya will attempt to block or restrain his advance; the speaker adds that he has further important instructions to convey.
