tam ācāryo 'py asambhrānto yuyudhe yac chatrutāpanaḥ | droṇācāryaḥ yasyāstrasya prayogaṃ karoti, tasyaiva sātyakir api karoti sma | śatrūṇāṃ santāpa-dātā ācārya-droṇo 'pi ghabarāhaṭ chhoḍkar sātyakinā saha yuddhaṃ karatā rahā |
सञ्जय उवाच—आचार्योऽप्यसम्भ्रान्तः शत्रुतापनः द्रोणः सात्यकिना सह युध्यत। यदस्त्रं द्रोणः प्रयुङ्क्ते, तदेव सात्यकिरपि प्रत्यपद्यत; एवं स निःशङ्को युद्धमकरोत्॥
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights steadiness under pressure and mastery in action: even a famed teacher-warrior must remain unshaken, while the opponent’s equal counter shows that skill and presence of mind—not mere reputation—govern outcomes in righteous combat.
Sañjaya describes Droṇa continuing the fight without panic. Sātyaki mirrors Droṇa’s weapon-deployments, matching each astra with a corresponding response, so the battle becomes a direct contest of technique and composure.
