भीष्म उवाच
Bhishma praises disciplined Brahmins devoted to rigorous scriptural learning—commentaries, grammar, Purāṇas, and Dharmaśāstras—implying that true scholarship joined with proper conduct has a purifying, uplifting influence on society.
In Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on dharma, Bhishma continues enumerating the qualities of exemplary Brahmins, highlighting their fields of study and suggesting that such learned, self-controlled persons sanctify others by their presence and practice.
