यथा ह्ुपस्थितैश्वर्या: प्रजायन्ते न राजसा: । एवमेवात्मना5७त्मानं पूजयन्तीह धार्मिका:,जो अतुल ऐश्वर्यके स्वामी हैं, वे यह सोचकर कि कहीं रजोगुणी होकर पुनः जन्म- मृत्युके चक््करमें न पड़ जाये, धर्मका अनुष्ठान करते हैं और इस प्रकार अपने ही प्रयत्नसे आत्माको महत् पदकी प्राप्ति कराते हैं
yathā hy upasthitaiśvaryāḥ prajāyante na rājasāḥ | evam evātmanātmānaṃ pūjayantīha dhārmikāḥ ||
भीष्म उवाच—यथा ह्युपस्थितैश्वर्याः न राजसा पुनर्जन्माभिलषन्ते, एवमेव धार्मिका इहात्मना आत्मानं पूजयन्ति। ते धर्मानुष्ठानेन स्वप्रयत्नात् आत्मानं महत्पदे स्थापयन्ति, रजोगुणप्राबल्यात् पुनर्जन्ममृत्युचक्रे न पतन्तीति।
