वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how the pursuit of aiśvarya (sovereignty) can generate destructive rivalry even among powerful beings, implying an ethical caution: unchecked ambition destabilizes the wider order that includes all creatures.
Vaiśampāyana introduces a primordial clash: devas and asuras enter a major confrontation, each seeking dominion over the entire triloka, encompassing all animate and inanimate existence.
