Saṁhrāda iti vikhyātaḥ Prahrādasya anujaḥ tu yaḥ | sa Śalya iti vikhyāto jajñe Bāhlīka-puṅgavaḥ |
वैशम्पायन उवाच—प्रह्लादस्यानुजो यः संह्राद इति विख्यातः, स एव बाह्लीकेषु प्रथितः शल्य इति नाम्ना जज्ञे।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores the epic theme that social and political identity is anchored in lineage: renowned kings are presented as continuations of earlier ancestral lines, linking fame and authority to inherited genealogy.
Vaiśaṃpāyana is recounting a genealogical account: Saṃhrāda, identified as Prahrāda’s younger brother, is said to have been born as Śalya, the foremost ruler among the Bāhlīkas.
