वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the vastness of a royal lineage; ethically, it suggests that mere numbers, strength, and prestige do not ensure dharma—only disciplined conduct and wise governance prevent kinship and power from turning into conflict.
Vaiśampāyana continues a genealogical enumeration, listing several named offspring (including Duḥśalā) and indicating that the total exceeded a hundred, emphasizing the scale of the family and setting context for later dynastic tensions.
