King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
जय: सत्यव्रतश्नैव पुरुमित्रश्न भारत । वैश्यापुत्रो युयुत्सुश्नव एकादश महारथा:
Jayaḥ Satyavrataś caiva Purumitraś ca Bhārata | Vaiśyāputro Yuyutsuś caiva ekādaśa mahārathāḥ ||
दाश उवाच—भारत! धृतराष्ट्रस्य पुत्रेषु सहायेषु च एते एकादश महारथाः—दुर्योधनः, दुःशासनः, दुःसहः, दुर्मर्षणः, विकर्णः, चित्रसेनः, विविंशतिः, जयः, सत्यव्रतः, पुरुमित्रः, तथा वैश्यायाः पुत्रो युयुत्सुः।
दाश उवाच
Even within a lineage famed for power, moral worth is not guaranteed by birth; the mention of Yuyutsu (born of a Vaiśyā woman yet later aligned with dharma) highlights that ethical choice can transcend social and familial identity.
