Vidura affirms an ethical form of kinship: beyond biological lineage, dharma creates a binding responsibility to treat the righteous heirs as one’s own, emphasizing impartial duty and moral guardianship.
In counsel and reflection on the heirs of the Kuru line, Vidura speaks of the Pāṇḍavas—Pāṇḍu’s sons through Kuntī—as heroic warriors, and declares that by dharma he regards them as his own sons, underscoring his protective, non-partisan stance.
