Draupadī Episode
वसिष्ठ उवाच ततस्तं क्रोधजं तात और्वोडग्निं वरुणालये । उत्ससर्ज स चैवाप उपयुद्धक्ते महोदधौ
Vasiṣṭha uvāca: tatas taṁ krodhajaṁ tāta aurvo 'gnim Varuṇālaye | utsasarja sa caivāpa upayuddhakte mahodadhau ||
वसिष्ठ उवाच—ततः स तं क्रोधजं तात और्वोऽग्निं वरुणालये उत्ससर्ज; स चाप उपयुङ्क्ते महोदधौ, ज्वलन्नेव च तिष्ठति। गन्धर्व उवाच—एवमुक्तः पुलस्त्येन वसिष्ठेन च धीमता, तदा समापयामास सत्रं शाक्तो महामुनिः।
वसिष्ठ उवाच
Wrath can generate destructive power, but dharma requires restraint and redirection of that force so it does not harm living beings; here the anger-born fire is contained in the ocean rather than unleashed upon the world.
Vasiṣṭha narrates that Aurva releases a fire produced from anger into the ocean (Varuṇa’s domain), where it remains associated with the sea’s mysterious, consuming fire.
