Bhīma’s Search for Water and the Forest Halt
वेगेन महता राजन्नभ्यवर्षत पाण्डवम् | तदा चक्रे महद् युद्धमर्जुनो जयतां वर:
Vaiśampāyana uvāca |
vegena mahatā rājann abhyavarṣata pāṇḍavam |
tadā cakre mahad yuddham arjuno jayatāṃ varaḥ ||
वैशम्पायन उवाच—राजन्, स महता वेगेन बलवांश्च पाण्डवमभ्यवर्षच्छरवृष्ट्या। ततः जयतां वरः पार्थोऽर्जुनो महद् युद्धमकरोत्।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in action: when challenged with overwhelming force, a warrior of discipline and skill responds with steadfast courage and measured prowess, turning aggression into a decisive engagement rather than retreating into fear or disorder.
An opponent unleashes a rapid, heavy ‘rain’ of arrows against Arjuna. In response, Arjuna—praised as foremost among victors—initiates a major, intensified phase of combat.
