Adhyāya 123 — Droṇa’s Pedagogy: Arjuna’s Preeminence, Ekalavya’s Self-Training, and the Bhāsa-Lakṣya Trial
तद् दृष्टवा महदाश्चर्य विस्मिता मुनिसत्तमा: । अधिकां सम ततो वृत्तिमवर्तन् पाण्डवान् प्रति
tad dṛṣṭvā mahad āścaryaṃ vismitā munisattamāḥ | adhikāṃ sma tato vṛttim avartan pāṇḍavān prati ||
तद् दृष्ट्वा महदाश्चर्यं विस्मिता मुनिसत्तमाः । अधिकां समततो वृत्तिमवर्तन् पाण्डवान् प्रति ॥
वैशम्पायन उवाच
True excellence and dharmic conduct naturally evoke reverence in the wise; when sages witness extraordinary virtue or a remarkable event connected with the righteous, their respect and goodwill deepen.
After witnessing a great marvel, the assembled sages become amazed, and from that point they adopt an even more favorable attitude toward the Pāṇḍavas, showing heightened affection and honor.
