उमादेहसमुद्भूता योगनिद्रा च कौशिकी । नियोगाद्देवदेवस्य यशोदातनया ह्यभूत् ॥
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya, with an internal Purāṇic account of Śiva’s command)
It asserts Shaiva siddhānta’s hierarchy: Śiva as Pati commands even cosmic Māyā (Yogānidrā), showing that all protective and world-ordering powers operate under Mahādeva—an essential lens for understanding Linga as the sovereign sign of Pati.
Śiva-tattva is presented as Deva-deva—supreme governor whose niyoga (injunction) directs Śakti’s manifestations; thus bondage-and-release dynamics (pāśa and mokṣa) are ultimately under Pati’s lordship.
The verse points to yoga-nidrā as a divine yogic power (Śakti) rather than a human technique; for practitioners, it implies disciplined Pāśupata-oriented yoga and pūjā aimed at aligning the pashu (soul) with Pati’s will, not merely seeking siddhis.
