Sages of Naimiṣāraṇya (addressing Sūta)
It establishes the sacred frame of śravaṇa (devotional listening) and authentic transmission: the sages affirm that inquiry and receptivity make the forthcoming teaching on the Liṅga and Pati (Śiva) “fruitful.”
Indirectly: by honoring the Purāṇic teaching as liberative knowledge, it points to Śiva as Pati—the ultimate reality to be known—whose tattva is approached through revealed narration and disciplined understanding.
Purāṇa-śravaṇa and satsanga are implied as a sādhana: attentive listening to Śaiva doctrine that later supports Liṅga-pūjā and Pāśupata-oriented inner transformation (pāśa-kṣaya for the paśu).
