विश्वामित्र उवाच—यतः प्रवृत्तिर्भूतानां यस्मिन् सर्वमिदं जगत्। स विष्णुः सर्वभूतात्मा तमाश्रित्य विमुच्यते॥
Viśvāmitra
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It identifies Viṣṇu as sarva-bhūtātmā—the indwelling Self of all beings—showing the Supreme as both the source of manifestation and the inner consciousness sustaining the world.
The verse emphasizes āśraya (taking refuge) in Īśvara as a direct liberating orientation—supporting devotion (bhakti), one-pointed contemplation on the indwelling Lord, and surrender as a core sādhana aligned with Purāṇic Yoga.
By defining the Supreme as the universal inner Self and source of the cosmos, the verse supports the Kurma Purana’s non-sectarian synthesis: the highest Īśvara is one reality, praised through names such as Viṣṇu (and elsewhere, Śiva) without contradiction.
