Priyavrata Accepts Kingship by Brahmā’s Instruction; Sapta-dvīpa Formation and Renunciation
duhitaraṁ corjasvatīṁ nāmośanase prāyacchad yasyām āsīd devayānī nāma kāvya-sutā.
This verse identifies Devayānī as the daughter born from Ūrjasvatī and Uśanā (Śukrācārya), thus describing her lineage as connected to Kāvya (Śukra).
In the genealogical narration of Canto 5, Śukadeva Gosvāmī records dynastic marriages to show how notable personalities and lineages arise within the unfolding history described in the Purāṇa.
They encourage respect for dharmic responsibility—seeing family, marriage, and legacy as sacred duties—and remind readers that history unfolds under divine order, not merely chance.
