tasyām asyābhavat putro mahābalaparākramaḥ aniruddho raṇe ruddho vīryodadhir ariṃdamaḥ
Sage Parāśara (narrating to Maitreya)
This verse marks Aniruddha’s birth and frames him with royal epithets, establishing him as a pivotal link in the Yadava/Vrishni genealogy through which the Purana tracks dharma and sovereignty.
Parāśara compresses genealogy into a few potent descriptors—strength, valor, and enemy-subduing power—so the lineage is remembered not only by names but by dharmic kingship qualities.
Even in a genealogical verse, the Purana’s subtext is Vishnu’s supreme governance: the stability of sacred lineages and the rise of exemplary heroes are presented as expressions of the Lord’s sustaining order in the world.
